How to make a Ruffle Edge Heart Pillow
Because I wanted to show off the pattern of this teapot fabric I made a large pillow. Of course you can make any size heart you'd like.

Once you were allowed to use scissors as a child you learned how to make a heart. Fold the paper in half. Start near the top of the fold, make a swoop and end near the bottom of the fold. Open the paper. Look! You made a Valentine Heart!

I'm not sure if you can tell. This heart if 18" across at the largest point. When finished as shown above it is 17" across.

Cut two hearts and enough 4" strips to be equal to at least twice the diameter of the heart. Use a string, ribbon or strip of cloth to insure the length.

Once you have joined your strips together fold them as shown and use either the basting stitch on your machine OR if you are fortunate enough to have a ruffle attachment...go for it!

Pin the ruffle around the edged making sure it's evenly ruffled. Sew to stabilize. Now put the other heart piece on top, face to face. Pin and then sew around leaving an opening for you to turn this inside out. You may want to snip the seam close before you turn.

Once you've turned and stuffed the pillow, hand close it with tiny stitches.

Fluff it up and enjoy!
